Sometimes we can’t see what God is doing—not because He isn’t moving, but because we’re carrying something that was never ours to hold. When we take responsibility for outcomes instead of obedience, faith can quietly slip into D3—disengaged, disillusioned, or disinterested. In Look Again, the third sermon in the But I Can’t See It series, we return to John 4 and listen closely to Jesus’ conversation with His disciples after the Samaritan woman leaves to tell her story. The work was hers to do. The results were never hers to control. This message reminds us that the work is ours—but the results belong to God. When we release the burden of performance and comparison, our faith moves from D3 into E3—becoming engaged, enlightened, and enamored by God’s love. And if we look again—really look—we might discover that God is already at work. When faith is under pressure, it doesn’t usually disappear—it drifts. It can slip into D3, where faith becomes disengaged, disillusioned, and disinterested. Following God isn’t always clear, comfortable, or convenient.
