What We Believe

God
We believe in one God who created everything and is still deeply involved in our world today.
God is a spirit and exists in three expressions: God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. You may hear people say this as “The Trinity.” While God has three expressions, he is still one—working together in love, power, and purpose.
Jesus
We believe Jesus is God in human form.
He lived a full life, showed us what love actually looks like, and gave His life to close the gap between us and God.
Three days after His death, He rose again—and that changed everything.
Through Jesus, we experience forgiveness, purpose, and a restored relationship with God.

The Holy Spirit
We believe God is still present and active today through the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit guides us, strengthens us, and helps us grow into who we were created to be—individually and together.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is a trustworthy, true, and inspired account of God’s activity in the world. The Bible helps us understand who God is and how to live.
We don’t just read it—we wrestle with it, learn from it, and let it shape how we live our lives.

Grace and Growth
We believe no one is perfect—and no one has to be. We are growing to be like Jesus from a place of love–not fear.
Because of Jesus, God meets us with grace, not because we’ve earned it, but because God loves us.
Faith is not about getting everything right. It’s about growing—step by step—into a life that reflects that love.
The Church
We believe church is not just a place you go—it’s a people you grow with. We believe God created the church so we can grow individually and serve collectively so people can experience his love in the world.
Cohesion exists to:
-
Create community
-
Unify people
-
Equip you to grow
We gather, learn, serve, and build together—because we’re better together.
Love in Action
We believe faith should show up in how we live.
That means loving people, serving others, and working toward unity, justice, and restoration in our communities.
Sex, Gender, and Marriage
We know this matters deeply—and we want to be both clear and compassionate. Clarity is kindness!
First, this is important: You are welcome here.
No matter your background, identity, or where you are on your journey, you belong in this community.
We believe every person is made in the image of God and carries inherent dignity, value, and worth.
We also recognize that people experience and express gender in different ways, and we are committed to treating every person with respect, care, and honor.
At the same time, we want to be clear about our beliefs:
We understand marriage, based on our reading of Scripture, to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman.
Because of that, Cohesion’s pastors, leadership, and spaces are aligned with that definition when it comes to officiating and hosting weddings.
Here’s what that means in practice:
-
You can belong here before you believe everything we believe
-
You can participate in the community even if you disagree
-
You will be treated with dignity and respect at all times
We hold our beliefs with both conviction and care—committed to truth, and equally committed to people.
Reconciliation and Unity
We believe every person is created in the image of God—across every race, culture, and background. Division, racism, and prejudice distort that truth.
So we are committed to building a community that reflects God’s heart:
-
Diverse
-
Unified
-
Just
-
Whole
Reconciliation isn’t optional for us—it’s part of what it means to follow Jesus.
We’re not a perfect community—but we are a growing one.
And there’s room for you here.
